The Challenge

The Annual challenge is great for those of us who struggle with working out consistently. The challenge gives us a goal to hit within a one-year time frame. Beginning January 1st, and running until December 31st you will be tracking minutes worked out within the Peloton platform. This challenge is designed for everyone, the super competitive can thrive in this challenge as well as people brand new to working out that may not be super motivated.

The Annual Challenge Rundown

The first step is to sign up for the challenge which can be done on the app, or one of the Peloton screens. Once you have found the challenge you will see the different tiers of badges, starting at 1,000 minutes. If you are new to Peloton or new to working out you can set a goal for yourself, It may be hitting 1,000 minutes in one year and if that’s you…then that’s a wonderful badge to work towards! This goal would equate to about 3 minutes a day of working out for all 365 days of the year…when you look at it this way it seems pretty doable!

The different tiers of badges are as follows:

  • 1K – About 3 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 2K- Roughly 6 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 3K- Just under 9 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 4K- 11 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 5K-Just under 14 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 6K-Just under 17 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 7K- Just under 20 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 8K-22 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 9K- Just under 25 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 10K- Slightly under 28 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 15K- Just under 39 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 18K- Just under 50 minutes per day for 365 days.
  • 20K- Just shy of 55 minutes per day for 365 days!

The Big Kahuna of these badges in the 20K badge, which is new along with the 18K badge for 2022. Last year (2021) only went up to 15K, and it is rumored that for 2023 some bigger numbers may be seen such as 25K and 30K.

In order to earn the minutes you must be on the app or the Peloton equipment. Any workout within the Peloton platform will count towards the annual challenge, even Just Workout! so for example, you could turn on a Peloton walk within the app and go outside for a walk and that would count towards the annual minutes!

Why Sign Up For The Challenge?

The annual challenge is a great way to hold you accountable for reaching your goals! There is nothing more motivating than setting a goal and crushing it, not only will it help us build healthy habits but it will also help us with our overall health and wellness!

If creating habits and becoming more healthy is not enough of an incentive to start the challenge then I have a little secret for you! In 2022 if you reached 15,000 minutes you received a special little email asking for your size and preferred gender. If you promptly responded then Peloton sent out SWAG to those who completed the 15K annual challenge. The swag that was gifted in 2022 was not like the 100 rides T-shirt. Most people who completed the challenge received a Peloton outfit, a pair of leggings as well as a top! I’m not sure if you are aware of this but Peloton apparel is pretty pricey, so it’s a huge deal to receive an outfit! Hopefully, the fact that Peloton will award you with swag has gotten you motivated to start this challenge and CRUSH it!

I’m assuming now that two new tiers have been added that it’s only the top tier (20K) that will receive swag, but I cannot find where that has officially been confirmed. So if you really want the swag I would reach for the 20K badge!

Conclusion

The Annual Challenge is my favorite of all the challenges and we hope today that we convinced you that it’s worth joining. Don’t forget…you can sign up for this challenge at any point of the year, so if you missed signing up by January 1, don’t sweat it…you can still join! Now let’s get out there and crush some goals so we can earn some swag!
